In lieu of a longer post, I'd like to take a look at some of the most interesting things I've found on the internet this past week (in no particular order):
- Vulfpeck, one of my favorite bands, teased their upcoming album, Clarity of Cal, with two tracks that I can only call an amalgamation of gospel, Motown, The Midnight Special, and Earth, Wind & Fire [Youtube]
- Rhodes, one of the classic mechanical electric piano makers, announced a MIDI system for their MK8 model, which was released in 2021. As an owner of a vintage '76 Rhodes Mark 1, I had kind of forgotten that Rhodes was still around! [Sound on Sound]
- Scout Motors (yes, that Scout Motors) shared an update on their production center in Blythewood, South Carolina. 1,100 acres, with plans to eventually produce 200,000 vehicles annually. Pretty cool seeing a new EV brand take shape! [instagram]
- Those that know me well know that I've rekindled my love of Disney World this past year (#passholder), but this Universal Epic Universe ad from the Super Bowl has got me hyped to have a Nintendo theme park! [Youtube]
- Amazon finally redesigned their Prime Video app on the Apple TV, and it actually fixes a lot of UI issues that plagued the old app. As C-3PO once said, "Thank the maker"! [The Verge]
- A fantastic cover of ZZ Top's "Just Got Paid". One take, no overdubs, straight to tape, 100% rock and roll. [Youtube]
- If you remember hearing about Christianity Today's podcast The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill, they just launched another podcast called Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, retelling the history of the Satanic Panic in the 1980s and '90s. The first two episodes are very well produced and are worth listening to from the start (podcast)
That's all for now!
